The client's existing banking platform was built on a 15-year-old monolithic architecture that could no longer scale to meet growing transaction volumes. Frequent outages, slow response times and an inability to deploy updates without full system downtime were affecting customer satisfaction and regulatory compliance.
We designed a cloud-native microservices architecture on AWS, decomposing the monolith into 12 independent services. The migration followed a strangler fig pattern, enabling incremental cutover without disrupting existing operations. Each service was built with .NET Core, containerised with Docker and orchestrated via Kubernetes.
The new platform launched with zero downtime during cutover. Transaction processing capacity increased 10x, average response times dropped from 1.2 seconds to under 200ms, and the system has maintained 99.99% uptime since deployment. The client's development team can now deploy updates independently to any service without affecting the broader platform.
